International Pet Travel Certificates
At VetPoint, we’re here to help your pet pawsitively soar to new heights and travel internationally with ease! As a USDA-accredited practice, we’re the purr-fect partners to issue International Health Certificates and National Veterinary Inspection Certificates (CVI). Our mission is to guide you through the detailed, sometimes complex, process to ensure your furry friend meets every specific health and documentation requirement for their final destination. This preparation is critter-cally important and may need to begin as early as six months prior to your planned travel date, especially for destinations requiring specific rabies antibody titers (e.g., Hawaii, Japan, New Zealand). Don’t worry, we’ll leash your worries!
Our Tail-Wagging Step-by-Step Process:
- Initial Travel Exam and Record Review (1 Hour):
- We conduct a one-hour exam and a detailed review of your pet’s records to dig up the specific requirements for your destination country.
- We evaluate your pet’s eligibility and current compliance status.
- If any requirements are not met, we establish a customized plan—a fur-mula for success—including adjusting dates or repeating necessary vaccinations, to ensure travel is paw-sible.
- Establish Compliance:
- Confirm your pet has a microchip administered before the final required rabies vaccination. If not, we can microchip and/or re-vaccinate as necessary. No bones about it, this is a must!
- Address country-specific requirements, which may include additional deworming, blood tests (like rabies titers sent to specific labs), or other parasite preventatives (flea/tick). We’ll make sure everything is ship-shape.
- Customized Travel Plan Creation:
- We create a detailed, customized travel plan for your pet based on the destination’s regulations and deadlines. We’ll be your compass!
- We coordinate with travel companies and airlines as needed to make the journey smooth as a cat’s nap.
- Final Pre-Travel Exam and Certificate Issuance (Separate Visit):
- This visit typically occurs within 10 days of travel (or the timeline specified by the destination country).
- We perform a final inspection to confirm the pet is free of external parasites and create the final International Certificate or National Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.
- We handle the necessary uploading and endorsement of documentation, including applicable USDA fees. We’ll dot the i’s and cross the t-ails!
- USDA Endorsement:
- We submit the final certificate for required USDA endorsement, ensuring all paperwork is properly completed and endorsed for travel. We’ll help you cross the finish line!
Please note: The entire process may require more than two visits depending on the final destination and the specific requirements (e.g., multiple visits for paperwork, re-vaccinations, or blood work collection). It’s all part of the great travel adventure!
